I've previously mentioned that Lillian can get up on all fours and rock back and forth.[1] Well a few weeks ago she started doing a sort of army crawl. She hasn't progressed to a full crawl, in part, because she would much rather grab someone's fingers and walk around.[2] As you can probably guess, by now, whenever I tried to get a video of her doing this army crawl, she'd just flirt with the camera or fuss because she wanted to walk, not crawl. But I finally got the video I wanted.
All it took was the right motivation!
The first video was pretty short because the phone was too close, so I shot another one with the phone placed a little further away. I used to be able to get her to do the same thing with a shoelace [3], but she wised up to the fact that I kept pulling it out of her reach, so now she refuses to play that game.

I love it! She's just so darn cute! Neither of my kids army crawled...but Josie had her own unique little crawl. The phone was a good motivator for both of them, too.

I remember that video. Hilarious! The day after I posted this I discovered an even better motivator: Lilli will crawl all the way across the living room—multiple times—for the laptop.
