Distribution Maps VIII: Microlophus

Last time I mentioned finding two new posters to derive distribution maps from.[1] Well, there was a third. But where the last ones were focused on Patagonian lizards, this one was about lizards in the genus Microlophus found in the Galápagos Islands. The common name for lizards in the genus Microlophus is Lava Lizards.[2] English names of the Galápagos Islands are often quite different from the Spanish names. Since the islands are part of the nation of Ecuador, I give the Spanish names preference (but I include the English names in parentheses when they differ).

Microlophus albemarlensis is found on the Galápagos islands of Fernandina (Marlborough), Isabela (Albemarle), Cuatro Hermanos (Crossman), and Tortuga (Brattle).

Microlophus bivittatus is found on the Galápagos Island of San Cristóbal (Chatham).

Microlophus delanonis is found on the Galápagos Island of Española (Hood).

Microlophus duncanensis is found on the Galápagos Island of Pinzón (Duncan).

Microlophus grayii is found on the Galápagos Islands of Floreana (Charles), Campión (Champion), Enderby, Caldwell, and Gardner.

Microlophus habelii is found on the Galápagos Island of Marchena (Bindloe).

Microlophus indefatigabilis is found on the Galápagos Islands of Santa Cruz (Indefatigable), Seymour Norte (North Seymour), Baltra (South Seymour), Santa Fé (Barrington), Plaza Sur, and Caamaño.[2]

Microlophus jacobi is found on the Galápagos Islands of San Salvador (James), Rábida (Jervis), Bartolomé, Albany, Bainbridge, and Sombrero Chino.

Microlophus pacificus is found on the Galápagos Island of Pinta (Abington).

Once I had all the maps made and uploaded to Wikimedia Commons, I went about inserting them into the appropriate Wikipedia pages. (You can see them by clicking on the links under each map shown above.) As it turns out there is a Wikipedia page for every single one of those species.
